So, you want to join one of the oldest (and most wonderful! not that we're
biased, oh no) crafts
on Pern?

If you would like to apply to join Healer Hall then you can head on over to the Records Room at the Hall. Once there you can receive an application via 'moomail' by typing +apply. Applications can also be obtained from this web page.
After you fill out the application and send it back to the
MasterHealer, and the Masterhealer or one of the Apprentice
Mentors will get back to you. They will want to set up an online time to chat and get to know you a bit.
If you have problems obtaining an application or if you have any questions relating to this or the Hall in general, please feel free to sign on the game and leave mail for the Masterhealer or you can
send email to the address above.
We strongly suggest that people seeking entrance into Healer Hall should have been on the game for at least three real-life days,
to explore the MOO and become acquainted with the other Crafts, Holds and Weyrs. We want our healers to be have a good idea of what they're getting into.
After acceptance, you'll be posted at Healer Hall to learn the basics of healing, and herbs. Once familiar with those, a written exam will be given to show your general knowledge of the craft. Passing it, completing an approved project and a few other things will advance you in rank to that of Jr. Journeyman.

Healer Hall
Application

romotions
Advancement in the Healercraft is based on the healer's abilities in:

  • Roleplaying activity
  • showing dedication to the craft and oath
  • general skills as appropriate for the rank
  • finishing an individual project
More specifically, apprentices are expected to gain general knowledge, and attend the five classes:
  • Herbs
  • Pregnancy
  • First Aid
  • Physicals
  • Burns & Broken Bones
They should also study the scrolls their master assigns them, and must pass a written exam as well as correctly give a physical.

Journeymen will be responsible all of the foregoing, plus taking on at least two apprentices to mentor, teach classes, and so on.
Journeymen may specialize as they learn more.  A Master must
recommend a journeyman for promotion.
Masters will be responsible for all of the above, and other items such as reading written tests, and helping foster role-play.
